Welcome to Technothon 2024 - A 24-hours Hackathon exclusively for Polytechnic Students. Building on the success of our inaugural event in 2023, Technothon continues to be the epicenter of innovation for the engineering community across Mumbai.
In 2023, we witnessed remarkable creativity and problem-solving skills during our 24-hour nonstop hackathon. The overwhelming response fueled our commitment to providing an even more exhilarating experience in 2024.
At Technothon, our aim is to provide a platform for students across the city to inculcate invaluable skills in product development. By building projects from scratch and competing with fellow mates, participants identify and hone their innovation and problem-solving skills.

1. Eligibility
Eligibility
- All students pursuing a diploma in any stream of engineering are welcome to participate in Technothon 2024.
- Participants should be students of a registered polytechnic in and around Mumbai.
2. Team Formation
Team Formation
To ensure fair competition and collaboration, please adhere to the following guidelines for team composition
- College Consistency:
- All team members must belong to the same college.
- Inter-college teams are not permitted.
- Team Size:
- A team should comprise four members.
- This includes the team leader.
- Diversity Inclusion:
- At least one female member is mandatory on each team.
These guidelines aim to foster a balanced and diverse participation experience for all teams at Technothon 2024.
3. Idea Submission
Idea Submission
- After your team finalizes a problem statement, it's time to submit your innovative idea. During the registration, present your idea in the form of an abstract and proposal.
- Choose from the following formats for your submission:
- PPT
- Video Presentation
- Opting for a Video Presentation is highly encouraged as it helps problem setters to efficiently comprehend your proposed solution.

- Unleash your creativity and communicate your solutions effectively to stand out in the Technothon 2024!
4. Shortlisted Teams
After Being Shortlisted:
- If your team is shortlisted for The Grand Finale, a 24-hour Hackathon, you are expected to turn your proposed solution into reality.
- We encourage participants to have a substantial portion of their proposed solutions implemented—ideally aiming for at least 65% completion—transforming concepts into tangible products or prototypes during the event.
- To maintain fair competition, it is strictly prohibited to have the entire product/prototype ready before the Grand Finale round. However, teams are allowed to have a raw setup in place, ensuring efficient utilization of the provided 24 hours for product development.
- Prepare to bring your innovation to life during the Grand Finale and showcase your problem-solving prowess!
5. Documents for Shortlisted Teams
Documents for Shortlisted Teams:
- College Identity Cards of individual team members.
- Any Government ID Card of individual team members.
- A consent form duly filled by individual team members (to be shared with the selected team).
- Participation confirmation letter from the college authority on college letterhead (one per team).
6. Winning Criteria
Winning Criteria
Each Problem Statement can result in different outcomes, and the determination lies with the Problem Setter. Here are the possible scenarios:
- Winner: Awarded to the team with the best solution/product among competitors addressing the same Problem Statement.
- Joint Winners: If two teams independently develop and present identically similar solutions/products, they both share the victory.
- No Winners: Declared if the problem setters find that none of the developed products effectively solve the provided problem.
The evaluation criteria encompass various aspects:
- Novelty of the idea
- Complexity of the solution
- Clarity and details presented in the prescribed format
- Feasibility of the proposed solution
- Practicability and sustainability of the developed product
- Scale of impact
- User experience
- Potential for future work progression

7. Important & Ownership Information

- The intellectual property (IP) of the idea belongs to the competent authorities only.
- Ownership Note: Solutions prepared by the winning team, whether hardware or software, will be owned by the organizers. This ensures collaboration and further development opportunities beyond the challenge.

Technothon 2024 will be conducted in an offline format. The event will be hosted offline at V.E.S. Polytechnic College. Please refer to the Reach Us section for the address.
Technothon 2024 is organized by Vivekanand Education Society’s Polytechnic in association with VESP Alumni Association and IIC Cell.
No, there are no registration fees. You just need to come with your innovation; your accommodation and food during the 24-hours are all on us.
All team members should be from the same college; no inter-college teams are allowed. The team should be of four members and should include a minimum of one female member.
We regret to inform you that we won't be providing travel reimbursement. We would be happy to provide food and accommodation during the 24-hour grand finale.
Yes, all the participants get an E-Participation Certificate along with learning experience to compete in a hackathon.
Solutions, whether hardware or software, prepared by the winning team will be owned by the organizers. This ownership ensures collaboration and opens up opportunities for further development beyond the challenge. The organizers may explore avenues for implementation, refinement, or integration into existing systems.
The organizers will retain ownership of the winning team's solutions. However, the organizers may discuss collaboration opportunities and potential future involvement of the winning team in the development or implementation process.
Yes, Technothon welcomes participation from Polytechnic colleges outside the Mumbai region. However, organizers will only provide facilities from 17th February morning to 18th February 5 PM. Accommodation and travel arrangements are the responsibility of participating students or their respective institutions.
Certainly, a single team can apply for multiple problem statements. However, multiple solutions for the same problem statement from the same team are not allowed. Additionally, students applying for multiple problem statements should maintain the same team for all their applications.
